Put each map in the rotation twice to the emulate how GA works on EA servers, where each team plays both light side and dark side on a map before the map switches

Yes, that's a very good idea, as that's how it is in the normal vanilla game. I hope you can figure out how to do it, we're waiting! 😄

100% would like to look into this. It’s not going to be as simple as queuing the same maps twice, because teams are randomised between rounds, so there’d be lots of players playing the same team twice in a row.
