An entity for executing console commands

There is a built in entity for executing commands, ConsoleCommandEntityData. However, either I am seriously misunderstanding how to load it, and/or it is a broken entity; whenever I try to copy/paste a command entity (no new connections) the game crashes upon loading. Back in 2017 GMan said it was broken, that the hook for executing the commands no longer exists. Also, I heard from a maintainer that the entity was “disabled with Kyber rn” back in February of this year. Why was that entity disabled? Is that maybe why I’m crashing? If there’s technical reasons why that specific entity can’t come back, could we have a Kyber-made one?

Use cases:

  • Enabling things like friendly fire for a single mode/map without needing to edit files that conflict with other mods.

  • Loading SP maps using Kyber.LoadSPLevel without requiring specific user interaction.

  • Potentially making a map vote system within the game?
